PASS THIS INFORMATION ON! The RIAA's recent campaign to rid the internet of MP3 music files isn't the first offense by this organization. The RIAA has increased the price of compact discs substantially, while the price of creating the CD's has decreased. The percentage of royalties given directly to the artist's has also dropped. The RIAA's major labels routinely cooperate with each other, forcing independent labels to buckle. These acts by the RIAA has shown they are gouging customers to make more money for themselves. A boycott is being organized against the major recording labels of America. Sony Music, Universal Records, EMI Distribution, BMG Music, and Warner Records are some examples of the major companies being boycotted. Click on the link on the left to get a complete listing of companies being boycotted. The boycott will start on Monday, August 1, 2000 until August 31, 2000. If there are any CDs you want to buy, buy them this weekend. The boycott may be extended. Here are some websites describing the boycott: http://dieriaa.netfirms.com/boycott.htm
Also, while we're boycotting the RIAA, you might want to stop buying music from Metallica and Dr. Dre all together. They have shown completely disregard for their fans and have let their stardom and power go to their heads. |
